The hall of S. Agostino was crowded and I sat at the podium, holding the connection from the computer to the projector, to avoid the pictures being shown in yellow. But it worked – pictures from Jorgens life and work in Pietrasanta was shown during the ceremony, when Jorgen was awarded the Premio Fratelli Roselli, Pietrasanta e Versilia nel mondo last Sunday.
Prof. Bruno Corá spoke clearly and it was really interesting learning about Medardo Rosso and Rodin - and development in sculpture, from a different perspective than I had ever heard before lining up Boccioni - Fontana - Sorensen and got Jørgen’s work into an Italian context.
- It was great and the whole room applauded when Jorgen received the award, but when the mayor Mallegni declared that Jorgen will get the city's major summer exhibition next year, an exhibition covering the museum, the church and the cathedral square, everybody rose from their seats in an agreeing applause.
- So when the two opera singers started singing Mozart, I was so moved that I shed a tear - thinking of all the years, the whole story - it touched me and therefore we look so happy in the photos, because it was a happy moment.
I thank Jacob for his many photos he let me use. Jacob, Jorgen’s oldest son and other friends, came to visit for the different events. - The Saturday before Jorgen opened an exhibition at Paola Raffo Arte Contemporanea, a continuation of Jorgen's recent show in Copenhagen at Hans Alf Gallery - A Dark Story in White.
We made a big party the night before al Casa di popolo di Solaio, celebrating it all with our friends from Pietrasanta.
This week has been enjoyable quiet - very needed - before the realization of the coming exhibition next summer. And not only this mayor exhibition - the city of Pietrasanta will also launch a dance festival, inviting the Danish ballet dancer and choreographer Sebastian Kloborg to create a choreography on Jorgen’s works - in collaboration with Jorgen and the composer Kim Helweg, who will write the music for the ballet. It is all very exciting.
I've made a small slideshow from the festive events – you can have a look at it above
Kind greetings
Eli and Jørgen
