Brask Collection Meets Willumsen

September 9, 2017 - February 18, 2018

J.F. Willumsen's paintings, sculptures, graphics and ceramics are brought together with works from Danish art collector Jens-Peter Brask's impressive collection of Danish and American contemporary art at the exhibition "Brask Collection meets Willumsen". The audience can, among other things, experience works by Christian Lemmerz, Jørgen Haugen Sørensen, Alexander Tovborg, John Kørner and Jesper Dalgaard, as well as New York based artists, Eddie Martinez, Ella Kruglyanskaya and Mira Dancy.

Strong colors, expressive figures and a fabulous universe characterize the exhibited works, and Willumsen's very modern expression is evident in the dialogue with contemporary art. Willumsen's interest in the light and the fluorescent is set against Dan Atto's neon works and Olafur Eliasson's shining sun, his intriguing woman portraits light up in the meeting with three American female artists' colorful paintings and Willumsen's experimental ceramics from around 1900 seem ultramodern in dialogue with a handful of Danish contemporary artists' ceramic sculptures.

The exhibition is displayed in the yellow building
